]]> <![CDATA[A Late Spring]]> https://www.plumbfarms.com/blog/a-late-spring/ Mon, 10 Mar 2014 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.plumbfarms.com/blog/a-late-spring/ There's been talk of a late Spring this year.  The tree fruit growers like a late Spring, since there is less of a chance for a late frost to kill the flowers (no flowers=no fruit).  A harsh winter may affect insect and disease pressure for the Spring, but I don't know ... Somehow I think that the insects and disease organisms are so very hardy that they survive even the coldest of winters.  We'll just have to wait and see.

]]> <![CDATA[Dyeing White Carnations]]> https://www.plumbfarms.com/blog/dyeing-white-carnations/ Tue, 04 Mar 2014 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.plumbfarms.com/blog/dyeing-white-carnations/ We're trying stem dye this year for St. Paddy's Day.  We have, in the past, bought in our green carnations already stem dyed but this year, at the suggestion of our flower salesperson Linda, we've been dyeing our own.  The first "experiment" involved 1/2 hour vs. 1 full hour in the same concentration of dye, 1t./qt.  The 1/2 hour treatment was definitely enough.  We'll post a pic soon.
